A Warm Welcome Awaits at Tan y Maen

Tan y Maen are here to offer support and resources to individuals, families, friends carers and other mental health organizations on any aspect of mental health and well-being.

You can call into our centre for a warm welcome, a cuppa and someone to talk to - you don't have to make an appointment. Sometimes people may want to talk about things that concern them, but often people just want an ordinary conversation. We are here to listen and to help.

One of the basic aims of the centre is to encourage self-help and mutual support, to encourage people to grow in confidence and to develop new skills or regain old ones.  We also work in partnership with a wide variety of other organizations to provide a range of advice and support.

Our service has been extended due to our work with PARABL TALKING THERAPIES and MENTORA CONWY to the whole of Gwynedd, Rural Conwy and Wrexham.

OUR NEW OFFICE IN DOLGELLAU is now open - see panel on the right for more info.

Our outreach services are now MOBILE and we will be delivering courses in the '5 Ways to Well-being' in your area soon. Check this site regularly for updates.  Our regular support group in Bala continues to meet every fortnight.  Contact us for the dates and times of the next meetings.

  • PARABL TALKING THERAPIES - Gwynedd and Wrexham

Tan Y Maen are proud to be part of the PARABL Talking Therapies Partnership which operates across North Wales.  In the past two years of Parabl we have seen over 100 clients in Gwynedd and in Wrexham.  Our services can now offer a Parabl CCBT Serenity introduction at 'clinics' in Blaenau Ffestiniog, Bangor and in Wrexham.  As a result of taking on our own counsellor to cover Meirionnydd we are now able to offer individual counselling in Blauenau Ffestiniog, Dlogellau and Porthmadog.  We have also delivered group therapies for people experiencing Anxiety, Depression and self-esteem issues in Tywyn, Barmouth and Dolgellau and from the 1st April 2015 we will be continuing these courses in Bala, Barmouth and Blaenau Ffestiniog.  Our next MINDFULNESS course will start in Tywyn on 7th May 2015 and anyone interested in attending this should contact us through the website.  Click the Parabl logo above to go to the Parabl website for more information.

Our Mentora Conwy project has been running for one full year and during that time we have supported individuals across the Conwy Borough with emotional well-being and mental health issues.  Our groups in Llanrwst meet regularly to provide opportunities to discover new tools and techniques to manage your well-being and include the '5 Ways to Wellbeing' and 'Wellness Recovery Action Planning' as part of this process.

We can match you with a volunteer 'Mentor' who can support you to achieve your goals and ambitions, however large or small and we will set up and manage this mentoring process so you get the most from the opportunity.  Click on the link above to go to the Mentora Conwy website to find out more about the support available from this service in your area.

WE are also always looking for NEW VOLUNTEERS to support individuals and become mentors.  If you have JUST ONE HOUR a week spare you could use this to support a vulnerable member of your own community and to change someone's life!  Contact us now to find out more.
